Sanders County is found in Northwestern Montana boarded on the west by Idaho's Pandhandle and is Montana's 18th most populous county with approximately 11,000 residents.
The Clark Fork River , a tributary of the Columbia runs the length of the Valley in Sanders and is made ideal for water sports by three reservoirs open to the public. The county encompasses the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness and three National Forests. Within close proximity are Glacier National Park, Flathead Lake and Lake Pend Oreille. This quiet portion of Montana with its lush green valleys, rugged mountains, lakes and streams offer a lifestyle of tranquillity away from the centers of large industry, congestion and pollution.
Quaint communities lie nestled in the valleys and along the banks of both the Clark Fork River and the Flathead River close enough for comfort yet far enough apart to feel uncrowded. Centrally located and county seat is Thompson Falls, the largest community, and along with Plains and Hot Springs offer a variety of businesses and services adequate for a county of this size. For a larger trading center, Missoula is located about 100 miles to the southeast and Spokane is about 165 miles southwest of Thompson Falls.
Timber and wood products, cattle ranching, sawmills, logging, mining and giant hydroelectric plants combine to make a healthy year round economic climate. The county also has an excellent hospital and several fine schools. Sanders county also boats a county fair and the Annual Huckleberry Festival.
From the famous Camas Hot Springs, blue ribbon trout streams, big game hunting to country living- Sanders county is a fine compliment to Montana's reputation of a land of unsurpassed recreation, scenic wonders and outstanding quality of life. COME INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE!
